A Nevada City Wedding on the Ridge

Kali + Ben at the Hart House

Some wedding days feel expansive in a way that’s hard to put into words.
Kali and Ben’s wedding on the ridge at the Hart House was one of those days.

Set high above Nevada City, with sweeping views and endless sky, their celebration felt grounded, intentional, and deeply connected to the land around them. It was intimate without being small, elevated without feeling overdone. A perfect reflection of who they are together.

Getting Ready at the Hart House

The day began slowly, with soft light pouring into the Hart House as Kali and Ben got ready surrounded by their people. There was a calm presence in the space. No rushing. No nerves taking over. Just quiet excitement and a sense of this is really happening.

The Hart House has this beautiful way of holding energy. It feels warm, open, and lived-in, which made it the perfect backdrop for the start of their day.

A Ceremony on the Ridge

Their ceremony took place right on the ridge, overlooking the rolling landscape that makes Nevada City so special. As Kali and Ben stood together, the breeze moved gently through the trees and the light shifted in that golden, almost unreal way.

It felt sacred without being formal. Emotional without being heavy. The kind of ceremony where everyone present could feel how real and rooted their love is.

Portraits at Golden Hour

Golden hour on the ridge is something else entirely. The light softened, the sky opened up, and everything slowed down.

We wandered the property for portraits, letting moments unfold naturally. No stiff posing. Just movement, laughter, quiet pauses, and that unmistakable ease that comes from two people who are deeply at home with each other.

These are always my favorite moments of the day. When the timeline loosens, the pressure fades, and couples can simply be together.

A Celebration That Felt Like Them

The rest of the evening was full of warmth, connection, and celebration. Long embraces. Big smiles. The kind of joy that doesn’t need to be announced because you can feel it in the air.

Kali and Ben created a wedding day that honored their relationship, their community, and the place they chose to say yes. Nothing felt forced. Everything felt intentional.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings in Nevada City

Nevada City weddings have a unique magic. The land, the light, the sense of grounding. There’s a timeless quality here that allows couples to slow down and really soak in their day.

Kali and Ben’s wedding at the Hart House is a perfect example of what’s possible when you let your wedding reflect who you truly are.
